TOKYO – 13 October 2026 – Pacific Life Re, a leader in the global life reinsurance industry, today announces the successful completion of a structured reinsurance transaction for one of Japan’s leading life insurance companies.

The deal is Pacific Life Re’s second structured reinsurance transaction in Japan in 2026 and further demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting Japanese insurers with innovative capital and risk management solutions. The transaction was designed to enhance the cedant’s capital efficiency and optimise its economic capital position under Japan’s new Economic Solvency Ratio (ESR) framework.

The agreement forms part of an extremely successful year for Pacific Life Re in Japan. Alongside the completion of structured reinsurance transactions, the wider Pacific Life Re business has executed asset-intensive reinsurance transactions, maintained a strong position in the direct marketing market, and executed a new protection flow transaction.

“We are pleased to partner with our client on this structured reinsurance transaction,” said Michelle Moloney, Executive Vice President, Capital Solutions. “This transaction demonstrates our ability to deliver tailored solutions that help insurers achieve their strategic, capital and risk management objectives, and reinforces our commitment to supporting insurers and their policyholders in Japan. It also reflects the momentum of our Capital Solutions business globally. Since the start of 2026, we have executed more than 15 structured reinsurance transactions across 10 countries and 4 continents.”

Andrew Murphy, Managing Director, Capital Solutions, added: “We are proud to have completed this transaction with a leading Japanese insurer. It shows our ability to combine the structuring and execution expertise of our global Capital Solutions team with deep knowledge of the Japanese market to develop efficient, tailored solutions for Japanese insurers.”
